SAP end user workshops - ISSUE RESOLUTION AND PROJECT ACCELERATION
CLIENT
Tate & Lyle Plc. is a manufacturer and global supplier of food and beverage ingredients to industrial markets with HQ in London, UK. The leadership decided to implement new ERP software (SAP) across all Tate & Lyle locations globally to streamline accounting and reporting functions and provide raw, quality data that would support executive decision-making. SAP software meant a substantial business transformation in the EMEA and North American regions. While the European branches were in the first stage of software rollout, North America was in the pipeline as the second stage.
PROBLEM
After the first stage of SAP release in EMEA, a few branches faced operational issues (e.g., not being able to print paperwork). This acute situation required immediate resolution in all affected areas.
SOLUTION
I was a member of the PMO team, which organised a large-scale workshop large-scale workshops lasting one week to resolve issues and accelerate the project. We hired office space near Heathrow Airport and created a project co-working hub. Our EMEA colleagues flew in and participated in daily sessions and forums. We scheduled and managed workshops and related events for up to 100 EMEA participants.
RESULT
Overall, we delivered the SAP rollout with minimal extra costs. We implemented the software effectively in 6 European countries within 18 months, and our EMEA colleagues could return to business as usual using the new platform. Tate & Lyle's reporting was enhanced, allowing the leadership to make faster, stable decisions in alignment with the company's vision and strategy — all thanks to one reporting tool across all business locations.
